Swisspod, a Swiss-American transportation technology company developing hyperloop travel, set a new world speed record for hyperloop on May 9 during testing at its facility in Pueblo.

The record-setting run concludes testing of Swisspod’s proprietary propulsion technology and autonomous control system aboard AERYS 1, the company’s first full-scale vehicle. Development will now focus entirely on AERYS 2, a second-generation capsule currently in the design phase and being engineered for significantly higher efficiency and operating speeds. Production of AERYS 2 is expected to begin later this year.
What Is Hyperloop?
Hyperloop is a high-speed, fully electric mode of transportation in which autonomous capsules travel inside low-pressure tubes, levitating and moving at near-sonic speeds with zero direct CO₂ emissions. Designed to be weather-resistant, energy-efficient and sustainable, hyperloop addresses the rising global need for cleaner, faster movement of passengers and freight.
Swisspod is the only hyperloop company currently pursuing a system architecture not reliant on building complex and costly infrastructure. Rather than embedding the majority of technology in the rail system itself, Swisspod places it inside the vehicle — a design distinction the company says reduces infrastructure costs and accelerates deployment.
