Downtown Alamosa Sees Renewed Growth as Small Businesses and Historic Buildings Thrive

    0
By Jeanne Davant on November 6, 2025 Workforce & Economy
Vibrant businesses line Alamosa’s Main Street, which hosts events to bring residents and visitors Downtown.

Alamosa’s four-block Main Street, the east-west thoroughfare that threads through the Central Business District, pulses with color, light and commerce.

The street’s historic buildings are alive with retail outlets including Bullfrogs & Butterflies, a children’s clothing store; Alamosa Home and Big John’s furniture stores; Narrow Gauge Book Co-op, a community-owned bookstore and gathering place; an antique mall; service businesses ranging from hairstylists to chiropractors; and a variety of cool restaurants like Mammoth, which specializes in the San Luis Valley’s premier crop — potatoes.
