Citra Space Opens Colorado Springs Headquarters With Plans to Track and Characterize Objects in Orbit

By Wayne Heilman on July 7, 2026 Business Insights

A Colorado Springs startup that raised nearly $20 million from investors hopes to become the “FlightAware” of space by developing a database of satellites and other objects orbiting the Earth.

Citra Space, founded in 2024 by three Air Force and Space Force veterans, opened its headquarters in northwest Colorado Springs on June 17 to show off its technology, which tracks not just where space objects are but also what they are and can do. The company employs 19 people and is in the process of hiring at least four more, with plans to double in size during the next two to three years.
