Colorado Springs Chief of Staff Jamie Fabos will depart city government effective Feb. 16, concluding more than a decade of service across two mayoral administrations.
Fabos oversaw the transition into Mayor Yemi Mobolade’s administration in 2023 and played a central role in launching and advancing several high-impact city initiatives. Mayor Mobolade praised Fabos as an “exceptional operator” whose ability to manage multiple priorities and reorganize city operations helped drive progress on critical projects.
During her tenure, Fabos designed and planned the Keep it Clean and Safe Program to address homelessness impacts along key corridors, supported efforts to resolve long-standing police staffing shortages by helping the Colorado Springs Police Department surpass 800 sworn officers for the first time and provided leadership in balancing the city’s budget after multi-year deficits. She was also instrumental in securing legislation allowing the Colorado Springs Fire Department to join the state’s Firefighter Heart and Cancer Trust.
Fabos previously served eight years as the city’s Chief Communications Officer under Mayor John Suthers, guiding the city through the COVID-19 pandemic, high-profile crisis events and the Olympic City USA rebrand. Deputy Chief of Staff Travis Easton will serve as acting chief of staff while a national search is conducted, with priority given to regional candidates.
