Business Leader Builds Community-Focused Enterprise in the San Luis Valley

    0
By Theresa Woods on November 3, 2025 Business Insights
Lucha’s Cantina & Speakeasy blends steakhouse dining, taco fare, and an elegant cocktail lounge into a restaurant destination inspired by lucha libre culture.

Jason Gonzales started several businesses in the San Luis Valley: event promotion, fighter management, restaurant, security, retail and a nonprofit. What makes him successful is his focus on the community’s needs and an eye for opportunity.

He started Nemesis Promotions in 2004 to organize mixed martial arts (MMA) events because the area didn’t have any. He then added fighter management services after receiving community requests. After that, “I got into boxing just because a lot of people kept asking me to do this.” Eventually, he also formed a nonprofit, Fighting for a Cause, to host fundraising events for other nonprofits.
