Stroke Survivor Joi Towner Inspires with Strength, Humor, and the S.T.R.O.K.E. Mission

Joi Towner

By Frank Sinclair and Lisa Sinnott

This month we hosted an incredible inspirational guest on Be Encouraged with Frank and Lisa. Cynthia (Joi) Towner is a stroke survivor and joyfully shares how her stroke has created numerous opportunities for her to contribute to humanity. It is impossible to be in Joi’s presence without feeling the genuine and authentic joy she emanates!

Her organization is called Strength In You, which allows her to present keynote speaking, her books, and her work as a comedian. Towner consistently finds ways to encourage others. She describes her mission as S.T.R.O.K.E (Strength Through Recovery Over Kneading Emotions).

Rarely have we encountered such a transparent and vulnerable human. She shares any and every anecdote and emotion, and has a humorous, yet disarming, way of describing her life. Admitting to not taking care of herself and feeling all the things initially that disability brings, Joi had a revelation about how her life could make a difference for others. Now she uses her “different” ability to inspire others with her quick wit and incredible communication style.
