Travis Bockenstedt, 37, strives to reform the broken healthcare system. Through Pinnacle Advanced Primary Care, his passion and innovation are restoring family medicine as the foundation of the healthcare system since he began work there in 2021.

Pinnacle is one of the fastest-growing direct primary care providers in the country. Using a subscription-based approach, Pinnacle serves over 250 local employers in El Paso County. Bockenstedt’s talent is seeing areas for improvement and implementing creative solutions. His proven track record, trust support and confidence in this approach generates viable pathways. His promotion to president and chief experience officer perfectly aligns with his strategic leadership and problem-solving skills.
Bockenstedt custom designed Pinnacle’s new member onboarding process, which achieved over 50% user engagement within the employee’s first 90 days of enrollment. When members are using their healthcare program, they are healthier and more satisfied, which resulted in a retention rate of over 90%.
In the nonprofit realm, Bockenstedt helped rebrand the Arapahoe Philharmonic; after 70 years, the are now known as the Symphony of the Rockies. The rebrand was part of a greater effort to position the organization as a regional symphony. He worked to recruit a new executive team and board members to help realize the new vision. The new norm is sold-out events and consistent rebookings.
Pinnacle has expanded under Bockenstedt’s leadership: staff has doubled through three clinics in South Denver and Colorado Springs.

Geoff Carrigan, 38, is a pioneer in the field of systems engineering, meticulously crafting the future of data security and cloud technology. Dani Cathcart
Dani Cathcart, 37, is a dynamic marketing expert who has made her mark in the advertising world, boasting over a decade of leadership experience in brand development and digital campaign strategy. Joseph Cheung
Joseph Cheung, 31, is an industry-recognized expert and leader in the fields of cybersecurity and data privacy. As the principal architect for ArcLight6 Consulting and one of the lead engineers for the U.S. Space Force, Cheung has leveraged his cyber systems and risk management background in order to introduce new technology into multiple governmental and Department of Defense (DoD) environments. He holds a master’s degree in computer science from Colorado Technical University, and has been an adjunct professor of cybersecurity at Denver University’s Sturm College of Law for five years.
Cheung’s commercial engineering and leadership experience comes from his work at several Fortune 500 companies. He began his professional career working for the DoD, supporting offensive and defensive cyber operations and research. He is an officer in the U.S. Space Force, working as the second ever cyber direct commissioned officer in the branch.

An executive member of ISSA, Cheung holds several certifications which include ISC2’s CISSP, a certification in information security. Cheung is the founder of ArcLight 6, an engineering consulting firm based in Colorado Springs. Through the firm, he became involved with Cyber Fox, an intelligence firm that specializes in gathering forensic evidence against human traffickers.
Cheung’s commercial and innovative approach to business has accelerated critical defense programs and solved problems with novel solutions that are often atypical in the DoD. Trevor Daggers
At 33, Trevor Daggers is a resident director, financial advisor and assistant vice president with Merrill Lynch in Colorado Springs. Ryan Darilek

Rafael de la Vega
Rafael de la Vega, 28, is the innovative CEO and co-founder of Salt Athletic, capturing the true spirit of the tenacity of entrepreneurship. Salt Athletic arose from the quest to create an odor-blocking sports equipment bag in 2012, a product that would come to fruition in 2021 after a series of trials and failures.

De la Vega immigrated to the U.S. in 2005 from Bolivia and discovered a passion for soccer in 2008. However, during his high school soccer career, he became frustrated by the constant stench that came from his cleats and affected his soccer kit. This prompted him to defer from attending New York University after graduation and instead engage in what became a decade-long process of research and conceptualization. That decision would come to revolutionize the athletic gear market.
Despite two failures early on in his journey, a battle with production challenges and marketing obstacles due to limited funding, in 2021, de la Vega found success with the creation and patent of Aērcase — a bag that employs the use of pure silver and military-grade activated carbon to kill bacteria, absorb moisture and neutralize odors.
Aērcase and other products by Salt Athletic bridge the gap between invention and consumer need. With de la Vega at the helm, Salt Athletic has reached more than $3.3 million in lifetime sales.
As an immigrant entrepreneur with resounding success, Rafael has a philanthropic heart and actively works to support initiatives that encourage underrepresented communities. He puts effort towards championing Latino youth, and de la Vega is a mentor to aspiring entrepreneurs. He often volunteers his time to coach students to overcome obstacles and be innovative in their own battles with real-world issues.

Ashley DiPaola
Ashley DiPaola, 36, started working for Mt. Carmel Wellness & Community Center in 2017. She quickly rose to the position of director of operations, and now manages more than 20 programs and 90 events annually. She also manages the sister non-profit, Sister Blandina Wellness Gardens, which opened in July 2021 in downtown Trinidad. The Gardens bring Mt. Carmel’s programming to another part of the community in a setting to influence the mind, body and spirit of all who visit.

She oversees the day-to-day operations of the campuses, trains staff on event logistics and planning, supports the board on donor relations and external communications and oversees all aspects related to the facilities’ management. DiPaola collaborates with local businesses to expand program offerings and philanthropic impact. This includes 8,000 meals annually provided to individuals who face food insecurity. She recently created a Youth Gardening program to teach youth responsibility, healthy eating and sustainable skills to assist in breaking systemic poverty.
In 2024, Mt. Carmel was selected by Wedding Rule (weddingrule.com) as the top venue in Trinidad and DiPaola received the El Pomar Spotlight Award of Excellence.
When the pandemic hit, Mt. Carmel needed to provide access to wellness programs that had always been held in person. DiPaola was able to pivot and convert all the programming to online, as well as create virtual forums where children could overcome social isolation. Mt. Carmel has been able to grow, maintain funding and expand its campus through a collaboration with Salud Family Health Centers to offer medical and dental services.
DiPaola is a member of a centurion family from Trinidad and her pride shows through her dedication to the community. She has a passion for kids and sports, so volunteers her time to coach youth volleyball and basketball. She also supports the Trinidad Firemen’s Toy Drive each year by collecting, wrapping and distributing presents.
Luke Doster
Luke Doster, 25, is an accomplished program manager and operations professional with a strong track record of supporting impactful initiatives. As the El Pomar Institute for Innovation and Coordination (EPIIC) program and outreach administrator at the University of Colorado Colorado Springs, he manages day-to-day operations and communications for the department, directly contributing to its growth and success. Doster is a graduate of UCCS with a Bachelor of Science in marketing.

Priya Ford, 30, a Department of Defense (DOD) contractor, founded Elite Edge Consulting in 2022 to advise coaches, leaders and stakeholders about their organizations’ needs and opportunities for growth. While she has collaborated with leadership at all levels within the DoD, Elite Edge allowed her to expand to medical clinics, sports teams, corporate entities and fitness studios. The consulting focus includes performance and effectiveness as well as mental skills training and targeted leadership programs.

Samuel Gardner, MS
As the lead of Para Applied Performance Sciences/Strength and Conditioning coach for U.S. Olympic and Paralympic Committee (USOPC), Samuel Gardner, 39, is an advocate for excellence in the athletic community. This role showcases Gardner as an innovator. He spends his time integrating applied performance research initiatives into various departments within the USOPC including Dietetics, Physiology and Performance Initiatives.

Gardner’s work at USOPC allows for collaboration with the intention of encouraging his team and, subsequently, the athletes they work with to strive for quality and excellence through innovative efforts. To allow for this, Gardner has created a range of initiatives that merge science with sport.
Gardner has grown the U.S. Paralympic Strength and Conditioning team significantly since he began, taking it from a single service provider to 13 providers at the Paris Paralympics in 2024. His work has consequently allowed for greater success at Olympic events.
As a Senior Strength and Conditioning coach, Gardner engages with sports coaches and encourages collaboration with science and technology to promote better screening methods to guarantee that risk factor screening and key performance indicator profiling are objectively and effectively measured.
Ultimately, coaching in Paralympic sport extends beyond athletic performance, focusing on improving athletes’ quality of life. Whether through mobility, strength or everyday function, the aim is to enhance independence and well-being alongside sport-specific goals. Originally from Cuernavaca, Morelos, Mexico, Herrera relocated to Denver at the tender age of four. She discovered her love of weather events in grade school; then Jackson began her educational pursuit of meteorology at the University of Missouri. She finished her education at Mississippi State University where she earned her Bachelor of Science degree in Geosciences, with a concentration in Broadcast and Operational Meteorology.
Prior to joining KKTV in 2018, Jackson worked at a Columbia, Missouri station and also served as a teaching assistant for a college-level course on meteorology. Since joining KKTV, Jackson has been recognized by the Colorado Broadcasters Association in 2019, 2022, and 2023 and continues to establish herself as a brilliant meteorologist and broadcaster.

At 35, Jackie Lujan is a dedicated advocate for early childhood education in Colorado Springs. She is the owner and CEO of The Lighthouse Early Care and Education, and has tirelessly fought to create quality childcare in the Pikes Peak region.

In 2023, Lujan licensed her first childcare center in downtown Colorado Springs. She later partnered with Pikes Peak United Way to establish a new center within their Family Success Center, expanding the number of childcare slots from 39 to 74. This was a great service for families in the area, as it addressed the critical shortage of childcare in the region. Currently, she is working to implement childcare services for Peterson SFB in order to support troops with children.
Lujan was named the Young Entrepreneur of the Year during the 2024 Colorado Springs Small Business Week. She also received the prestigious Comcast RISE Program award, which recognizes diverse business leaders committed to empowering their communities and driving economic impact.

McLain is a former Division 1 basketball player and team captain, certified personal trainer through ISSA, and deputy COO at his alma mater, the United States Air Force Academy. Menditto is a visionary within the healthcare field. As an advocate for implementing AI and other machine-learning tools within UCHealth Southern Colorado, Menditto has optimized operating room staff and equipment, giving more patients access to healthcare.
The use of AI and machine-learning tools allowed operating rooms to perform approximately 1,400 more procedures and surgeries in 2024 than in 2023. His efficiency efforts have also achieved $2 million in cost reductions by curbing medical supply waste in ORs. He has helped shrink patient waiting room time by 15 minutes by improving scheduled case length accuracy, and decreased average time of patients from clinic visit to surgical procedure by nearly two days. Menditto was also essential in helping UCHealth successfully launch its first Ambulatory Surgical Center in Colorado Springs — which provides patients with more affordable and accessible options for surgical treatments.
In addition to his professional work, Tim dedicates time to children living with diabetes through his work as a life coach with the American Diabetes Association. Seth Porter, 38, is the dean of the Kraemer Family Library at University of Colorado Colorado Springs (UCCS) since 2021, the senior executive director of Innovation & Technology and the founder of C3 Innovation, a program of UCCS. As dean, he has guided the library to national recognition, including the 2024 Library Excellence in Access and Diversity Award.

In 2023, Quintana was awarded the City of Colorado Springs Mayor’s Young Leader Award for Community Impact. For five years, she was selected as a top performer in the 4th Judicial District Court, and in 2018, she was nominated by the local court administration for Statewide Court Employee of the Year.

Kandy Ruiz

Prior to her work at PPSC, Ruiz worked at UC Pueblo for more than seven years, where she assisted individuals applying for financial aid and completing admissions applications, as well as answered questions about college costs and financial aid.
Since 2019, programs led by Ruiz have distributed over 266,103 pounds of food, benefited over 10,400 visitors at Mobile Food Markets and fed nearly 59,000 visitors at Community Tables. She secured more than $9.2 million in benefits assistance for participants in the 2023/24 academic year alone.
Ruiz demonstrates a profound commitment to community service. She volunteers with the Boys and Girls Club of Pueblo to support the development of children in underserved areas and currently serves as a PPSC liaison with Care and Share food bank in order to develop partnerships to address food insecurity in the community. Ruiz is also a member of the Adelante Leadership Institute Fellow Program, where she mentors emerging Latino leaders, and was a PPSC Planning Committee Member for Fiestas Patrias in 2023.

Prior to her current position at UCHealth, Russell worked as an emergency room nurse in Tucson, Arizona. Russell’s career is indicative of genuine compassion for healthcare and encouraging innovation within the industry, effectively promoting excellent comprehensive care for patients.
Russell was the recipient of the DAISY Award in 2016, celebrating her excellence in patient care and capacity for compassion. She is also a member of the American College of Healthcare Executives.
Notably, at UCHealth Russell is responsible for 14 direct reports across two department as well as their operating budgets, quality improvement initiatives and strategy implementations. Russell also led a rural community hospital initiative that introduced a dual notification system, when a patient with stroke-like symptoms came to the ER. It prioritizes rapid assessment and ensures timely transfer to a higher-level care facility when needed. As a result, the hospital’s median time dropped to 65 minutes — far exceeding the national accreditation goal of 120 minutes. The groundbreaking initiative earned national recognition as a best practice.

Sovis has two bachelor’s degrees, as well as a master’s and a doctorate in physics. Her work requires Top Secret government clearance due to the nature of the projects in her purview. The recipient of multiple scholarships, fellowships and awards, Sovis has participated in or led ten research projects in ten years.
Sovis works on serving the defense community by creating custom, physics-based software to fit individualized needs. With a focus on missile warning, especially messaging and radar detection systems, she specializes in developing algorithms to model real-world systems in training environments.
Her work on the front lines of protecting the country’s national security advances the technical expertise and innovation of the whole company. Recently she has served as the sole developer on the Standard Space Trainer Radar project, including implementing multiple algorithms designed to mimic real-world radar behavior.
Sovis also wrote an internal testing application designed to streamline high-load scenarios for proprietary missile warning training software. In addition to development and highly complex analysis, she also designed and wrote test cases to ensure proper execution of messages into simulated exercises.

As the CEO of Atlas Preparatory School, Stroh actively utilizes her administrative acuity to manage an annual budget of $18.4 million and spearhead initiatives that provide over 1,250 students with valuable educational experiences.

Manya Whitaker, Ph.D.
Manya Whitaker, 39, is a nationally recognized leader in education with expertise in educational equity. As the interim president for Colorado College, she is among the youngest people to be named president of a college or university in the United States. Whitaker holds a Masters of Science in psychology as well as a doctorate in developmental psychology and urban education, both from Vanderbilt University.

Whitaker is a prolific scholar and academic who has authored four books. She contributed to the creation of an education major at Colorado College, as well as helped to create the Stroud Scholars program, to provide college access for high schoolers in El Paso County. Whitaker has presented at various conferences in several different countries. In 2019, she won the Mayor’s Young Leader award. She has also won awards from the NAACP, regional professional organizations and local nonprofit school districts.
As a leader, Whitaker embraces flat organizational structures to encourage direct communication, transparency, vulnerability and trust. In 2013, she founded an education consulting business to support students’ academic success. Whitaker has been the recipient of various fellowships and grants, including the Robert Noyce Scholarship Program, as a co-principal investigator for the National Science Foundation. She was a finalist for a grant as a principal investigator for a Spencer Foundation project in 2021.
She has been an influential member of the Colorado Springs community, volunteering with the El Pomar Foundation, James Irwin Charter School and Educating Children of Color. Melissa Williams
At 37, Melissa Williams is a marketing leader with a creative vision for the city of Colorado Springs. As the director of marketing for Visit Colorado Springs, she has pioneered a collaborative approach to leadership which has led to greater promotion of Colorado Springs and the Pikes Peak region as a top travel destination.

In 2022, Williams led a project to launch a new website for Visit Colorado Springs, which has achieved the highest amount of traffic of any Visit COS website in history, bringing an unprecedented amount of visibility to local restaurants, attractions, hotels, shops, events and businesses. She was instrumental in continuing the Olympic City USA branding, through annual advertising campaigns to help educate visitors and locals about the identity and the economic value it brings.
Williams has overseen tourism promotions and advertising campaigns since the beginning of her time at Visit COS (as marketing manager), as well as grants awarded by the Colorado Tourism Office. Recently, she led the resident sentiment survey to determine how locals feel about tourism and to gauge a potential vote on increasing the Lodgers and Automobile Rental Tax, which will further support the economy.
In the community, Williams presents to city council, answering questions and sharing the strategy behind Visit COS’ marketing efforts. She sits on and contributes significantly to various committees and task forces which include the marketing committee for the Trails and Open Space Coalition, the marketing committee for the Colorado Tourism Office and the Visit COS Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Committee.
